Jax Liquors - Chattanooga, TN.  Chattanooga, Tennessee’s premier shop for Wine & Spirits. Located near the Tennessee Aquarium with the lowest prices and most extensive Wine & Liquor inventory anywhere around.

JAX, Athens Distributing, and Brown-Forman rose to the occasion when a customer called Lisa at Jax to say that his son was stationed in Hit, Iraq and the nickname of his squad was “Southern Comfort” (since they were from Alabama, Georgia, & Tennessee)…  Could we please find some decals for their Humvee?

Lisa made one call and that was all it took for Jay Donnelly of Athens Distributing to get on the horn with his counterparts at Brown-Forman, distributors of Southern Comfort Whiskey, and before long two boxes full of hats, flags, and posters were on their way to Hit, Iraq.  Enough for the whole platoon!

Now the whole Armored Cavalry platoon is boasting that they are the only platoon in Iraq with a corporate sponsor, they’ve taken “Southern Comfort” as their name… See the photo below.

Home on 14-day leave during his tour-of-duty in Hit, Iraq, SPC James Scott stands between Lisa Andrews of Jax and Jay Donnelly, Jr. of Athens Distributing after presenting them with a photograph of his Armored Cavalry Scout platoon now nicknamed “Southern Comfort”.

As of February 12th, 2007, James Scott, and his unit we stayed in touch with stationed in Hit, Iraq, has been “re-deployed” back to their home base in Friedberg, Germany (Ray Barracks and army home of Elvis!).  The Armored Cavalry platoon suffered only (2) soldiers wounded, an amazing feat considering the action they saw in their (13) months in combat.  Although their duties were varied ( everything from setting-up forward observation posts to house-to-house raids) their primary role over the last (9) months was to provide escort and security for the EOD Team (bomb squad) as they dealt with countless IEDs and weapons caches (see photo below).  After a (90-day) “decompression” period, most will head back to the US and won’t return to combat for (12) months.
